Carlos Antonio Bonell, born on 23 July 1949, is a distinguished English classical guitarist of Spanish descent. He began playing the guitar at the tender age of five, inspired by his father, who loved Spanish folk music. He later studied at the Royal College of Music under the famous guitarist John Williams and became a professor there in 1972. Bonell gained recognition in 1973 when he won an award that allowed him to perform over fifty concerts in the south-east of England.

His debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1975 showcased the delightful Concierto de Aranjuez. Throughout his career, Bonell has released several acclaimed albums and collaborated with renowned artists across the globe, including a performance at New York’s Mostly Mozart Festival in 1978. He also initiated the London International Guitar Festival and has contributed significantly to guitar education, inspiring many young musicians worldwide. His passion for music continues to resonate through his performances and teachings.
