William Jackson, born on 14th September 1955 in Cambuslang, near Glasgow, is a talented Scottish harpist and composer. His musical journey began in his childhood, influenced by his grandparents from County Donegal, which led him to visit Ireland frequently. In 1992, he trained as a music therapist at the Guildhall School of Music, eventually heading the Music Therapy department at Mission Children’s Hospital in North Carolina from 1998 to 2009.

In 1969, he formed the folk group Contraband, releasing an album in 1974 before disbanding in 1975. In 1976, he became a founding member of Ossian, which disbanded around 1989, after which he pursued a solo career. Jackson is noted for his innovative compositions that blend traditional and classical music, with his renowned “Wellpark Suite” being a milestone in Scottish music. Over the years, he has released numerous albums and received acclaim for works like “Land of Light.”
