Arvo Pärt is a renowned composer from Estonia, born on 11 September 1935. He is celebrated for his unique style of minimalist music, which he developed in the late 1970s. Pärt is known for a special technique he invented called tintinnabuli, inspired by the sound of ringing bells. Some of his most famous works include “Fratres,” “Spiegel im Spiegel,” and “Für Alina.” Throughout his career, Pärt has gained recognition worldwide and was even named the most performed living composer multiple times between 2011 and 2018.

Pärt’s early life was influenced by experiences of war and censorship. After serving in the military, he studied composition and began creating music for films. His spiritual journey led him to convert to Orthodox Christianity, which deeply affected his work. He often incorporates sacred texts into his music, primarily using Latin. Today, Pärt continues to inspire many with his profound musical expressions and maintains an archive in the Arvo Pärt Centre, dedicated to his life’s work.
