Julia Tsenova was a talented Bulgarian composer and pianist who was born on 30 July 1948 and passed away on 11 April 2010. She studied both Composition and Piano at the State Academy of Music in Sofia, where she learned from the notable Prof. Pancho Vladigerov. Throughout her life, Julia participated in various international music workshops and festivals, showcasing her compositions across Europe, including in Paris and Amsterdam. In 1997, she became a Professor of Piano and the Dean of the Pop and Jazz Music Faculty at her alma mater.
Julia’s music varied widely, covering symphonic, chamber, and choral works. Known for her dramatic style and philosophical influences, her compositions often reflected her fascination with ancient eastern philosophies. Her daughter, Kristina Sandulova, is also a skilled concert pianist. Despite her battle with cancer, Julia’s legacy lives on through her music, and she is remembered for her significant contributions to the world of music.
