Ami Maayani was a prominent Israeli composer and conductor. He founded and conducted several youth orchestras, including the Israel National Youth Orchestra and the Tel Aviv Youth Orchestra. Maayani served as chairman of the Israel Composers’ League and was known for his influential works, such as the Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra and Serenade in D.

His music reflects a blend of Eastern Mediterranean influences and contemporary styles. Zvi Keren described Maayani’s style as post-Eastern-Mediterranean, highlighting its unique characteristics. His compositions often feature lush improvisatory elements and Arabic modal influences, showcasing a rich cultural heritage. Maayani graduated from the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Dance, where he studied under notable composers. He also held academic degrees in architecture and philosophy.

His music has been performed internationally, reaching audiences in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
